Getting There
In this world of instant gratification and drive-thrus, I am challenged by a quote from a doctor friend:
“It's not a matter of getting there tomorrow. It's a matter of getting there.”
We want things fast and quick, but real and lasting change can take time. I think it’s something we’ve lost as we’ve generally moved away from an agrarian society. We don’t won’t to wait anymore. We don’t want to watch something grow. We don’t have time for that, because we are busy with other things. We want sod not seed. We want the product not the process. We’re so focused on the destination that we miss the joy in the journey.
So, here’s an idea. Plant something this summer. In your yard or your window sill. Let it be a reminder that it’s a matter of getting there and not getting there tomorrow.
