Tuesday Tidbits—#4: iPhone Pics—Dark Subject Fix
Tuesday Tidbit #4: Better lighting for iPhone Pictures
Have you ever tried to take a picture with an iPhone but the people looked too dark even on a sunny day with a bright sky? It happened to me over the July 4th weekend when I tried to take this picture of my wife and my mom on the porch in the mountains. When I first tried to take this picture, the sky was fine, but they were way too dark. Then I fixed it using the steps below and voilà!
Without getting into “the why” about cameras and light exposure, here’s a quick tip for fixing this problem:
When your subject is too dark (and the background too light):
Tap around the darker parts of the subject on your screen. (You’ll probably see a yellow box where you tap.)
Try to tap on faces first (so that they’ll be in focus), but it’s ok to tap on something else
Your subject(s) should now appear lighter
Take the shot!
