Flies Calling Cousin Earl
There is a fly in the room I’m in. Reminded me of a story. . .
“Dad, did you know that a fly throws up everywhere it lands?”
That was a comment from one of my daughters several years back when a fly was in the room with us. It was the kind of comment that clearly came from school, though I have no idea whether it was in science class or just in a classroom with a teacher that knows a lot about flies.
Come to think of it, the information could have come in a Social Studies class. Here’s why...
Some people are like flies. They throw up everywhere they land. We swing and we swat at them when they are in the room, but you can never catch them. This is primarily because, like flies, they take off backwards when they see you coming.
You could use a fly swatter, but the size you would need to squish the person makes this impractical.
So, sometimes you just have to keep the doors and windows closed when those people are buzzing about. Sometimes you have to just let them land and throw up knowing it’s not that big a deal. Sometimes you just have to realize that some people are in the “EGR” category.
EGR stands for “Extra Grace Required.” It’s a category most of us are familiar with during certain seasons of life.
